Email Marketing Is More Than Just AdvertisingAlthough people use email marketing as an advertising medium, it should also be used as a way to reach out to your customers; regardless of what kind of business you're in.Usually, personal or automated customer follow-up messages will instill in your customer a sense of trust and care...since you are checking up on them. Usually this type of 'digital hospitality' will deter many of your customers from ever requesting a refund on their purchase from you. As long as you 'check up' on your customers using email marketing, you can always recommend other items to them. Not only does this help KEEP your earnings in your pocket, it helps put MORE money in your pocket...instead of just letting the possibility of extra income 'lie on the table'. If you had the opportunity to make more easy money, wouldn't you take up the opportunity to do so? Follow up with your customers, and you'll start seeing the endless possibilities open up. It doesn't matter if you sell on ebay or stormpay, or if you have your own website, or if you have a 'brick and mortar' offline business operation. Follow up with your customers. The greatest example of follow-up marketing comes from Radio Shack, here in the U.S. Whenever you spend a certain amount in their store, they usually ask you for your name, address, phone number and email address. Why? So, they can follow up with you as their customer! Usually, if I go there and make a substantial purchase of more than 20 dollars, they ask me for my info. And later on down the road, I'll receive a circular from them when they have their next big sale. Sometimes, if something looks good, I'll go in and buy it. The fact is...if they hadn't have followed up with me and mailed me that circular, they would've never gotten any more money out of me, because I wouldn't have known about their sale. So, since we're in the online world, and you might have an online business...email marketing is the perfect way to do exactly what Radio Shack is doing. You can advertise, you can ask your customers how things are going, or if they need any services that you can provide, etc. But, not contacting your customer after a sale with email marketing is like having someone lay a wad of cash on your coffee table, and you just look the other way and leave. |
