When Should You Send Out Your Promotional Emails To Maximise ResponseWhenever you are sending out promotional emails to your list, you should always be aiming to maximise the response you get from your audience. I’m sure you already know the basics of writing an explosive promotional emails as outlined below:1. Make sure that you outline the benefits of your product, not its features. 2. Give your reader a sense of urgency to buy your product (e.g. one time offer, limited time offer). 3. Always include a call for action in your emails, never assume that the readers know what to do. In addition to all those factors above, you will get a much better response if your timing is right. And this is what I am going to discuss further. If you ask me when the best time to send your promotional emails is, there is no one single answer, because there are some factors that would influence this, one of them being the nature of your business and your target market. Let’s say that that your business is selling internet marketing info product. Who would be your target market? I’d say that they will be people who are working (not self-employed), and most likely they are working full-time. Their working hours would be Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Now, if most people are like me, they will be checking their mailboxes regularly, probably every 2 -3 hours. I know that some people are really busy that they don’t check their mailboxes in the office, but those people only make up a small percentage overall, so don’t worry about them. You might ask me, why you need to care about when your promotional email should land on your prospective buyers mailboxes. You might say that it does not make any difference if your emails go to their mailboxes at night since they will be reading it anyway in the morning. Well, here is the problem. When they open their mailboxes in the morning most likely they will have tons of other emails to read as well, and your email will have to compete with those other emails. Remember that most people will feel overwhelmed when they’ve got lots of emails to read, and they will want to get rid of junk emails as quick as they can. Ok, so now that we have established that the best time to send your promotional emails is during working days, 8am to 5pm. Let’s now go a bit further and refine what we’ve got so far. What days of the week you think would be the best time? I think intuitively you know that Monday might not be such a good time as normally people are very busy on Mondays. You probably might have noticed that traffic is always very heavy on Mondays. So this leaves Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday on our list. Friday is quite a tricky one. Most people are happy on Fridays because they won’t have to go to work the next day, so they would be more receptive to your promotional message and more likely to buy your things. On the other hand, internet marketing might be the last thing they want to think about on Friday. The conclusion? Better be safe than sorry, so let’s take Friday off our list as well, which leaves us with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. But again, as I said earlier, one factor that would influence this whole thing is the nature of your business and your target market. If you are targeting teenagers or students, then most likely your product would deliver entertainment value. As such, you might be better off sending your emails during the weekends as they would see weekends as time for entertainment and fun, and they are more likely to buy. |
